ExxonMobil’s Tamayoz Program maximizes knowledge-transfer with industry partners and unleashes human potential

DOHA, Qatar – ExxonMobil Qatar’s Tamayoz program has wrapped up another successful year after offering 36 training courses for local professionals from valued partner Qatar Petroleum, joint ventures RasGas and Qatargas, and Nakilat during 2017. The program supports the company’s efforts to harness human potential and channel it in the right direction so that it contributes to realizing the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV).

Tamayoz’s courses share ExxonMobil’s technical, commercial and operational expertise with local partners through a structured training program designed to increase participation of Qatari nationals in the workforce and enhance their capabilities, in line with the Human Development Pillar of the QNV. The program capitalizes on the time, talent and knowledge of ExxonMobil experts to increase the knowledge and enhance the skills of the professionals who are the future of Qatar’s energy sector.

“At ExxonMobil Qatar, we believe that creating opportunities for professionals within the workforce to reach newfound potential is integral to building a knowledge-based economy,” said Alistair Routledge, President and General Manager for ExxonMobil Qatar. “Since its inception in 2012, Tamayoz has established itself as the leading training program in Qatar’s energy industry. Together with our partners, we are empowering the next generation of industry leaders by maximizing knowledge-transfer and leveraging ExxonMobil subject-matter experts from around the world. We believe that with this knowledge and necessary skills, they can contribute to building a brighter future for Qatar.”

Tamayoz has steadily offered more courses each year to progressively more participants. More than 130 courses have been offered to over 3,400 local professionals free of charge since 2012. The first comprehensive program of its kind in Qatar, Tamayoz delivers professional development opportunities through six targeted critical competency areas: leadership and personal effectiveness; project management; commercial; operations excellence; technical (surface and subsurface) and safety, health and the environment.

Courses held during 2017 covered each of the six critical areas with several key highlights, including two back-to-back, three-day Technical and Commercial Leadership Fundamentals courses in March 2017 for more than 50 participants.

Under the commercial competency area, Tamayoz hosted a Gas Business Fundamentals course in April for 25 participants. Natural gas commercialization requires a strong foundational understanding of the gas value chain, from exploration through to marketing the products, and discernment of the key commercial issues. The course conveys a comprehensive view of the global gas value chain, including multiple marketing dispositions, while improving business knowledge skills.

In October 2017, Tamayoz held two sessions of the Production Best Practices course from the operations competency area for 50 participants who learned the fundamentals of production best practices, how they are applied to their business, how they work together, and how to use best practices, tools and collaboration forums.

“The Tamayoz program brings the energy of some of ExxonMobil’s most skilled and experienced team members and unleashes it here in Qatar,” said Routledge. “We believe that this information-sharing with local participants to instill best practices and disseminate knowledge will have a positive and long term impact on Qatar’s sustainable future,” said Routledge. “Tamayoz is an example of ExxonMobil’s commitment to building, supporting, developing and empowering its joint venture partners in Qatar.”

Routledge explained, “The State of Qatar’s transformation towards a knowledge-based economy lies in its strongest asset: people power. “By empowering the next generation of Qatari business leaders, we’re helping to establish a solid foundation for achieving sustainable and exceptional outcomes for Qatar’s future.”

ExxonMobil Qatar inaugurated new facilities for the Tamayoz training program at ExxonMobil Research Qatar in October 2015, which is housed at the Qatar Science and Technology Park. The dedicated facility underscores ExxonMobil’s commitment to supporting Qatar’s national workforce development plans, empowering local energy sector colleagues, and driving human potential across the country.

ExxonMobil’s ongoing commitment to the development of Qatar’s national workforce drives the Tamayoz training program. By sharing industry-leading technical, commercial and operational expertise, ExxonMobil Qatar contributes to the Qatar National Vision 2030 through the energy of its people, its advanced technology and its expertise in operational excellence.
