ExxonMobil Qatar's commitment

Overview

In the early 1990s, Qatar faced the challenge of developing the North Field, the world’s largest non-associated gas resource. His Highness The Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani had a vision, however: to build a strong, international partnership that would maximize the value of the nation’s resources for the advancement of all.

ExxonMobil’s predecessor company, Mobil, was invited by the State of Qatar to help develop this resource, and over the next two decades would leverage innovative technology and scale to allow Qatar to compete in the global market. Today, ExxonMobil Qatar commemorates more than 20 years of this partnership with Qatar Petroleum through joint ventures RasGas and Qatargas. We continue to work diligently to help drive the country forward as it supplies the world with the secure and reliable energy that will be needed as populations and living standards continue to rise.

ExxonMobil Qatar is proud to contribute to the Qatar National Vision 2030 –the country’s roadmap to continued advancement for the next 15 years– by providing the energy for three key areas:

Energy for a thriving society

Human and social development

The Qatari people are the State of Qatar’s most valued asset. ExxonMobil Qatar is committed to preserving Qatar’s rich heritage and cultural traditions, while promoting Qatar as a unique hub for international business and investment.

Energy to drive human potential

Over the next decade, Qatar will need more and more engineers and technology workers to meet the world’s growing energy demand. ExxonMobil Qatar supports a range of sustainable education and training initiatives to ensure that there is a stream of skilled individuals who can tackle the challenges of tomorrow – all in pursuit of developing Qatar’s knowledge-based economy.
