ExxonMobil Research Qatar Hires Top Qatari Researcher to Lead New Project

Dr. Mohamad Al-Sulaiti will lead the new ExxonMobil Research Qatar Water Reuse Research Program

November 28, 2010-Doha:  ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mohamad Yacob Al-Sulaiti at ExxonMobil Research Qatar (EMRQ). He will lead the recently announced ExxonMobil Research Qatar Water Reuse research program. The program will investigate water treating technologies and will initially focus on the identification and selection of native plant life that can naturally clean industrial water.

Dr. Al-Sulaiti brings to ExxonMobil Research Qatar the wealth of his experience in the area of water resource management. Dr. Al-Sulaiti holds a Ph.D in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University.  His research focus area was “Water Resources and Management- Groundwater Modeling".  He has also worked with Kahramaa, the country’s General Electricity & Water Corporation for seven years after a long career in the Qatari military.   He commented, “I am excited to work with ExxonMobil Research Qatar on the water reuse project. I am happy that through ExxonMobil I have an opportunity to utilize my research experience in the area of water resource management towards realizing Qatar’s long term objectives of water-conservation.”

Dr. James Rigby, research director at ExxonMobil Research Qatar, said, “We are thrilled to have Dr. Al-Sulaiti join our team.  His experience and familiarity with water and the region will be instrumental in quickly ramping up the research program.  At ExxonMobil, we endeavor to align all our activities with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and its Four Pillars of Human, Social, Economic and Environmental Development.  Towards this, we would like to add more Qatari employees like Dr. Al-Sulaiti and Nayla Al-Naema, a recent Qatar University graduate, who was hired as an Environmental Science Researcher and has been working in our environmental and analytical laboratories.  She has been instrumental in improving fish breeding protocols and other techniques that are vital to our research.”
