ExxonMobil Renews its Sponsorship of the 2010 Sword Race of HH The Heir Apparent Horse Race

Doha, Qatar, 19 January 2010 - ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. has agreed to be the main sponsor of the 2010 Sword Race of HH the Heir Apparent Horse Race renewing its commitment to support Qatar’s efforts to sustain a sport deep rooted in its tradition and history.

ExxonMobil and the Racing & Equestrian Club today announced the sponsorship agreement at a press conference in Doha.

Alex Dodds, ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. President & General Manager reinforced that the company was proud to be involved in this prestigious event which has the patronage of HH the Heir Apparent.

He added, “ExxonMobil is committed to supporting the State of Qatar and we believe that one of the most important contributions we can make to Qatar and its citizens is to help support community development through our sponsorship of events of cultural significance such as horse racing”.

Thanking ExxonMobil for their support, Mr. Saad Al Hajri added, “ExxonMobil and the Racing & Equestrian Club have a long standing relationship. We thank ExxonMobil for its interest in supporting horse racing, which is a sport that was fostered by our forefathers. We hope events such as this can elevate the status of horse racing in the region."

Traditional sports like horse racing are still part of the social fabric of the State of Qatar, as they attract fans and participants of various ages. This prestigious race continues to find new fame and popularity due to the overwhelming support from the Qatari leadership and local patrons.
