In the year 2022, Qatar will host the FIFA Soccer World Cup. Qatar’s planning and preparations have already garnered international attention and praise, and the additional development and construction that will come in the lead-up to the World Cup will continue to showcase the country as a forward-thinking nation. Through a variety of sponsorships and activities, ExxonMobil is supporting Qatar as the future sports capital of the world.
Qatar ExxonMobil Open
Starting in the mid-1990s, ExxonMobil has been the title sponsor of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open jointly with the Qatar Tennis Federation. This premier tennis tournament has grown to become a truly world-class event that consistently attracts the biggest stars in the world of tennis, while shining the spotlight on Doha. Additionally, ExxonMobil sponsors the ExxonMobil Qatar Youth Nationals for Qatari boys and girls of various age groups.

HH Heir Apparent Cup
On the heels of Qatar’s growing presence on the world’s football arena, ExxonMobil recently signed on as the exclusive partner of the HH Heir Apparent Cup, one of Doha’s most prestigious and most supported football tournaments. The tournament features matches between Qatar’s Premier football teams.
Qatar Paralympics Committee
Since 2010, ExxonMobil has donated QR 1 million to support the Qatar Paralympics Committee’s objectives of enabling individuals with disabilities to participate in sporting activities. With the recognition that individuals who live with a disability should have the right to participate in sporting activities, ExxonMobil sponsors several activities and events of the Qatar Paralympic Committee’s Athletics Team, including the Qatar Paralympic Team’s participation in the International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation World Games Tournament in Bangalore, India, where the Qatari team won seven medals.
International and local sporting events
ExxonMobil continues to sponsor other international and local sporting events held in Qatar, such as the Qatar Masters golf tournament, the Cycling Tour of Qatar and major horse races.
